Design & Development of research instruments
To support our sometimes challenging research questions, our lab has a long standing expertise in the design & development of research equipment and software. Using both multidisciplinary and design engineering skills physical and virtual instruments have been developed in the fields:
- mechanical systems
- electronic devices
- optical systems, including laser optics
- measurement of physical properties
- single photon counting
- cluster for high performance computing
The development or purchase of an instrument is only the beginning. The instruments, experimental protocols and statements whether of own design, purchased or found in the literature require functional verification, the boundaries within which they can be used and their transfer function determined. When necessary, we design instruments and experimental methods for this purpose.
