The ocean is a natural sink that takes up about a quarter of fossil fuel emissions each year. In the Coastal-Carbon research we investigate if we can increase the CO2 uptake by stimulating silicate weathering, a natural process that counteracts ocean acidification and can enhance ocean CO2 uptake. Our research focusses on the potential of this processes as a CO2 removal technique, the interactions with the marine biota and the possible effects on the ecosystem.
