Advanced experiments and long-term observation
GCE is an active partner in multiple European ecological infrastructure networks. We host advanced experimental infrastructure to study global change impacts on both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. GCE research groups also strongly invest in long-term ecological observation sites: research observations spanning multiple decades is key to acquiring fundamental insights into combined anthropogenic effects on ecosystem functioning.
Dispersal and personality in great and blue tits
GCE hosts a +25 year long-term population study on great and blue tits, to investigate adaptive variation in phenotypic traits, including behaviour and life-history traits.
OMES Scheldt monitoring
ECOBE plays a key role in the OMES monitoring programme, that has monitored ecology and water quality in the Scheldt estuary since 1995.
