Daanish Naithani is a PhD researcher at the Faculty of Law, University of Antwerp. His research focuses on trust dynamics in specialised courts, with a particular emphasis on the Unified Patent Court (UPC). His project, funded by the FWO, titled "Trust in Specialized Courts: The Unified Patent Court as a Case Study to Disentangle Trust Dynamics," seeks to provide insights into the relationship between trust and the functioning of specialised courts, using the UPC's operations as a unique case-study for analysis.
Daanish holds a Master’s in Law from National Law University, Delhi, where he graduated in 2022 as a gold medalist for academic excellence, ranking first in his class. His Master’s thesis explored the inventive step standard in patent law through the lens of CRISPR gene-editing technology, critically examining its alignment with economic theories of patent law. He completed his undergraduate studies in law (BLS.LLB) at Government Law College, Mumbai in 2019. Following his Master’s, Daanish became the first Indian intern at the UK Intellectual Property Office, working at the British High Commission, New Delhi. He subsequently worked as a Law Researcher to Justice Prathiba M. Singh at the Delhi High Court, where he gained extensive experience in the working of the Court systems and the dynamics of IP litigation.
