Emilia Sandri is a PhD researcher funded by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO), working under the supervision of Prof. Johan Meeusen and Prof. Mathieu Leloup at the University of Antwerp. Her research focuses on judicial cooperation within the European Union and its role in enforcing the rule of law, with particular emphasis on the principle of mutual trust.
Before joining the University of Antwerp, Emilia obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in International and European Law from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, where she deepened her knowledge of European Constitutional Law. She later graduated cum laude with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in European Law from Utrecht University, specialising in European Constitutional Law, Judicial Protection and Enforcement of EU Law. After completing her studies, Emilia worked as a policy consultant in Brussels, conducting research for the European Commission and the European Parliament on justice and home affairs, and evaluating the implementation of various directives and regulations at the national level. This role allowed her to complement her legal expertise with practical insights into EU policymaking and the implementation of EU law.
