Bio

Elise got her BSc and MSc in Architecture at the University of Antwerp during which she also completed an Erasmus exchange at the Politècnica de València. She went on to study Architectural History at the Bartlett School of Architecture. During her studies she developed an affinity for architectural history research on 19th and 20th century buildings. Her master’s thesis at the UAntwerpen focused on two expansions of the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library during the 20th century; her dissertation at the Bartlett School encompassed the redevelopment of Covent Garden in the 1970s from an experiential standpoint. Elise also has experience in architectural practice and devotes herself to unravelling new discoveries in architectural history, while also being passionate about architecture education.

Favourite (interior) architecture project

Elise had the opportunity to visit the Kaufmann House in Palm Springs which was designed by Richard Neutra in 1946. The building’s horizontal lines and minimalist materials create an elegant harmony, allowing the structure to flow seamlessly into the serene environment of the desert. The building is not imposed upon the landscape but feels as an integral part of it.
