Bio

Jimmy Henry Nzally is an interdisciplinary researcher with expertise in African History, Political Science, Migration Studies, and Postcolonial Studies. His research methodologies include historiography, archival research, oral history, postcolonial theorising, and discourse analysis. Nzally's primary expertise lies in democratisation and regime change in Africa, postcolonial African studies, and decolonisation approaches.

He has an undergraduate in Development studies and a master's degree in African History, both from the University of the Gambia (UTG), with a research focus on the oral history and historiography of Senegambian history, and a second master's degree at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) where he employed postcolonial theorising and discourse analysis in his thesis: "A Socio-Criticism of Gambian Literature". Nzally has a PhD in Political Science from the VUB, where he was also a teaching assistant and later lecturer. His PhD research was "Explaining Democratic Change in The Gambia".
