Bio

Astrid Schreurs is a PhD student holding a FRESH grant from the Fund for Scientific Research – FNRS. Her research project, supervised by Profs. Philippe Sosnowska(ULiège), Inge Bertels(UAntwerpen) and Claudine Houbart (ULiège), focuses on the 19th-century architectural heritage of the University of Liège, specifically the Trasenster Institutes (1880-1889) designed by architect Lambert Noppius. After completing her master’s degree in architecture at ULiège, she worked for two years as a junior architect. She then became an assistant at the Faculty of Architecture at ULiège, within the AAP Research Unit (Art, Archaeology, and Heritage). Under the guidance of Professors Philippe Sosnowska and Pierre Hallot, she developed expertise in architectural heritage research, on-site and through archival studies as well as in digitization techniques applied to architecture.
Favourite (interior) architecture project
The Sculpture House (1967–1968) is an organic architecture, designed by architect Jacques Gillet in collaboration with engineer-architect René Greisch and sculptor Félix Roulin. The design of the unusual house is poetic and evokes a sense of childlike wonder. Its simple structure is also interesting conceptually. The construction was a genuine experiment.
