About the group's interests/expertise

HERKUL is a Research Institute at Katholieke Universiet Leuven (KU Leuven) aiming to facilitate and support coordinated actions in the domain of cultural heritage within the university, as well as in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. HERKUL's participation in this SRN builds on the extensive expertise of its members regarding knowledge production amongst grassroots communities, public participation and citizen science, and the digitisation, publication and curation of heritage collections.

KU Leuven participants also join the SRN from the Laboratory of Human Genetic Genealogy, led by Prof. dr. Maarten Larmuseau. The Laboratory's primary mission is to elucidate genetic heritage and biological relatedness by analysing ‘modern’ DNA, ancient DNA and genealogies, within an intensely interdisciplinary research setting and citizen science initiatives.
