October 2020: World Allergy Organization (WAO) - Center of Excellence: Allergy Research Centre Antwerp University Hospital

In 2020, the Word Allergy Organization has chosen the Allergy Research Centre Antwerp University Hospital as 'WAO Center of Excellence for the 2020-2023 term': https://www.worldallergy.org/wao-centers-of-excellence/europe/edegem-belgium-2020

For about four decades, the Antwerp University Hospital (UZ Antwerpen, UZA) and for about 20 years its Ghen’s satellite, have organized a dedicated allergy – immunology – rheumatology clinic with specialized multidisciplinary care paths. Along with respiratory and food allergy, it has organized specialized consults for Hymenoptera venom allergy, drug hypersensitivity, mastocytosis, hereditary angioedema, immunodeficiencies, autoinflammatory conditions and inflammatory arthropathies for children and adults. Because of their close collaboration with the Antwerp University and international partners of many Immunological, Allergological and Rheumatological organizations, these care paths are capable to offer personalized precision approaches including innovative diagnostics and treatments via clinical trials.
