Read our interview with the newest member of the LAB-Net team, marketing expert Anke Broos.
Can you introduce yourself and describe your role within LAB-Net?
Anke: I am Anke Broos, I have a background in marketing & communication and have experience in business development, market research and go-to market management. Recently, I joined the LAB-Net team and my goal is to create more awareness around LAB-Net, what our work entails, what our benefits are, etc. In order to do so, I am developing a new brand- and marketing strategy tailored to these goals.
What is LAB-Net’s biggest asset according to you?
Anke: I am a new member of the team and have no experience in scientific research. My first impression is that the LAB-Net team is really motivated and always aims for the best approach possible. That translates in their way of working.
Next to that, I see the combination of the worldwide laboratory network for clinical trials in infectious diseases and the scientific background of the team as a real asset. If a new pandemic occurs and new studies have to be set up, LAB-Net strives to be ready for it. The expertise and the great amount of infectious diseases studies we were/are involved in makes this possible. Even though clinical studies are becoming increasingly complex, LAB-Net is flexible and offers strategies to labs to support global trials and tackle these challenges.
What are its main challenges?
Anke: In my opinion, brand awareness is the main challenge. People that work with us are aware of LAB-Net’s advantages but we are still quite unknown with a large part of our target audience. That’s what I want to tackle in the future.
Guaranteeing high-quality laboratory services can also be challenging as it is a continuous process and requires dedication of all the different people involved in the studies and experienced project managers through the whole process.
How do you see the future of LAB-Net?
Anke: I see LAB-Net as the reference laboratory network for clinical trials in infectious diseases. To continue to be a facilitator of high-quality laboratory services and support, providing other labs with specific strategies for more complex scientific research like global trials.
Lastly, a more personal question. Can you tell us something about your hobbies?
Anke: I like to relax and enjoy everything that is aesthetically pleasing, such as fashion, architecture, photography and arts. I also love to cook and now and then indulge in some fine dining. Another hobby of mine is drawing and graphic publishing. I also love to garden and enhance our ‘little jungle’ as I like to call our backyard.
