Wouter Vandenhole holds a PhD seminar on decolonizing human rights research and teaching for the PhD students
On 25 October 2021, Wouter Vandenhole held a PhD seminar on decolonizing human rights research and teaching for the PhD students of the Joint PhD Programme ‘Human Rights, Society, and Multi-level Governance’ at the Univerity of Padova Human Rights Centre.
Vandenhole submitted that priorities in human rights teaching are both decolonizing the curriculum and staff composition. With regard to research, he explored how vernacularisation may contribute to the decolonisation of human rights, taking child marriage as an example.
The Joint Ph.D Degree in “Human Rights, Society, and Multi-level Governance” is a three-year, interdisciplinary, joint academic programme managed by University of Padova (Italy, coordinating institution), University of Zagreb (Croatia), Western Sydney University (Australia), University of Nicosia (Cyprus).
