The Metropolitan Legal Lab is a collaboration between the research group Government & Law of the Law Faculty and the Faculty of Design Sciences. The objective of MLL is to offer a forum for exchange of innovative ideas between researchers and practitioners related to important legal issues in the area of metropolitan design and urban planning and to develop new lines of research aimed at legal innovation supporting metropolitan development.
This way, our research group combines in a unique way legal expertise with spatial planning. Our research deals with new legal issues in the context of open creative design of future cities. Key research issues of this research track are open metropolitan design and intellectual property rights, urban design and adaptive law, the legal position of architects in future urban design and transferable development rights.
