The Ruusbroec Institute has a long research tradition. Many publications by its former members of staff (e.g. Jozef Van Mierlo, Albert Ampe or Paul Mommaers) remain relevant in current-day research. Due to the vastness of research carried out at the Institute since its foundation, it would be impossible to list all projects. We have therefore decided to limit the overview of our research to all projects since 2000. This list of recent research shows the Ruusbroec Institute's wide range of expertise and the great number of young researchers in this overview clearly indicates just how dynamic the Institute is.
When creating the overview of our research projects certain choices had to be made and therefore some topics may appear to have been overlooked.
- Female authorship: see Sermons, Mysticism
- Devotional songs: see Devotional literature
- Devotio Moderna: see Devotional literaure
The development of new concepts (e.g. a sixteenth century mystical Renaissance), new approaches (e.g. computational stylometry; paratextual analyses), and new ideas (e.g. nuns’ literacies) will be increasingly important in the coming years.
