Thesis Prizes
- 25/05/2011: Nick Van den Broeck was awarded the BPS prize for one of the best three Physics Master's thesis 2010 by the Belgian Physical Society (BPS) at the BPS Meeting 2011 in Namur (Belgium) for his master thesis entitled “Metallic nanoshells on a solar cell” (2.42MB).
- 07/12/2010: Nick Van den Broeck has received the Agoria Scriptieprijs 2010, for his master thesis entitled “Metallic nanoshells on a solar cell” (2.42MB). In his thesis, Nick theoretically described a method to increase the output of a conventional silicon-based solar cell, using nanoshells. Agoria is a coordinating organization, which advises and informs over 1600 technological oriented companies. Since 2008, the price is awarded to students who have addressed technological relevant problems in their master thesis and who are able to present their work in a correct and popularizing manner to a wide audience. Agoria’s main goal is to stimulate young scientists and to promote the art of innovative thinking. In 2010, no less than 37 students signed up for this price, and Nick came out as the number one. He recieved a cash prize of €500 and was granted a seat in the Entrepreneurial Innovation track of the Vlerick Management School, of which a short documentary was made.
