Infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance pose a continuous and serious threat to humans and animals (One Health). Five research units from the University of Antwerp, each with strong international records and collaboration, continue to jointly capitalize on their infectious disease expertise in this Center of Excellence (COE): Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Excellence in Antwerp (VAX-IDEA).

Research Groups: Centre for the Evaluation of Vaccination (CEV), Centre for Health economics & modelling infectious diseases (CHERMID), Evolutionary Ecology Group (EVECO), Laboratory of Experimental Hematology (LEH), Laboratory of Medical Microbiology (LMM).

By integrating their complementary expertises, this COE will address current and future challenges in infectious disease management, in a one-health policy context.
