Objectives
The Justice Programme, managed by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Justice (DG JUSTICE), helps to build a European Area of Justice based on mutual recognition and mutual trust.
It promotes:
- judicial cooperation in civil matters, including commercial issues, insolvencies, successions, etc.;
- judicial cooperation in criminal matters;
- judicial training, including language training on legal terminology;
- better access to justice in the EU, including the rights of crime victims and procedural rights in criminal proceedings;
- drugs policy initiatives, including judicial cooperation and crime prevention
For whom?
For public authorities, NGOs, universities and other organisations that propose activities supporting the above mentioned objectives.
The project subsidy is meant for training, mutual learning and analysis – including studies and surveys. The results of the activities need to benefit more than one EU Member State. In other words, activities need to added value at EU level.
Except Denmark and the United Kingdom all EU Member States participate in the programme.
Duration and budget
The duration of projects usually does not exceed 24 months.
The EU-contribution covers in principle only a part of the eligible costs (no more than 90%).
Interested researchers should timely contact Research, Innovation & Valorisation Antwerp (RIVA) to discuss co-funding arrangements and to get clearance.
Application procedure
Proposals are submitted electronically through the European Commission’s Funding & Tenders Portal. It allows applicants to register, to download application forms and to submit their proposals.
