The Ethics committee of Antwerp University Hospital advises on all ethical aspects in the context of patient care and scientific research. It is composed of doctors from within and outside the hospital, a lawyer, a pharmacologist, a nurse and an ethicist.

The operation and tasks of this committee were given legal definition in the Royal Decree of 12/08/1994.

Good Clinical Practice (– Certificate)

In light of the Human Subject Research Program of the Joint Commission International (JCI) concerning the quality- and safety norms for clinical research, it is now, as of 1 January 2022 mandatory for all applications submitted to the CME regarding clinical studies and master theses to be accompanied by a ICH-GCP-certificate.

  • doctors working at the hospital and beyond
  • at least 2 nurses
  • a lawyer
  • a hospital pharmacist
  • a clinical investigator
  • an ethicist
  • a pharmacologist
  • a psychologist
  • a general practitioner
