Peasants into Stewards
As of 8 October 2021, I have been granted a PhD Fellowship for fundamental research by the FWO for my project 'Peasants into Stewards'.
This research project will investigate whether short-term leasehold could also lead to forms of environmental stewardship - as in: care for the soil and resources.
Using lease contracts, accounts of large estates and judicial sources, I will investigate this for the entire Low Countries, between 1200-1400.
The project itself will start on the 1st of November and last for 4 years.
