Barbara Willekens
My research is driven by my clinical work as academic neurologist (expertise in Multiple Sclerosis and rare neuroimmunological diseases of the CNS, incl. NMOSD, MOGAD, tumefactive demyelination and Susac syndrome). Overarching themes of my research: (1) improve understanding of CNS neuroimmunological diseases, (2) develop and/or investigate novel care/treatment approaches. PI in academic clinical trials in MS, for which I have obtained funding of FWO and PI in ˃30 industry-led clinical trials. (Inter)national collaboration for real-world data collection in in registries, eg MSBase, BELTRIMS
