Development of a measuring instrument which determines the performance and viability of the Flemish economy.
Abstract
The project has two objectives, both necessary to obtain a suitable measuring instrument, which enables the policy maker to determine the viability and growth potential of the Flemish economy. A first important objective can be related to fundamental economic research: which parameters determine the viability of the Flemish economy? Recent research indicates more and more that entrepreneurship and especially innovation can be labelled as the driving forces of the economy. Once these causalities are charted, the main goal is then to develop a measuring instrument, a `set of flashlights', which enable the policy maker to make decisions that in turn make a sustainable development of the Flemish economy possible.Researcher(s)

The economic impact of movies.
Abstract
A first objective of the project is to determine the economic impact of the Flemish film industry (feature films, short films,') by means of input-outputanalysis. The other goal consists of an evaluation of the current film policy of the Flemish government and the proposal of measurements aiming to stimulate the Flemish film industry.Researcher(s)

Aspects of harbour competivity. A interdisciplinary, empirical analysis of the factors which can influence the competitivity of harbours
Abstract
Starting from a conceptual frame to be developed newly, which comprises an operationalizing of competitivity in terms of parameters which are relevant for the general competitive position of marine harbours and harbour companies, the following elements are investigated: 1. the organisational conditions for an efficient harbour management, 2. the measurement of harbour competitivity, 3. the service harbour activity, 4. the industrial and regional function of a harbour, 5. pricing of harbour services, 6. juridical structures, and 7. formulation and implementation of strategies for marine harbours.Researcher(s)
