About Emma Verhoeven

Emma Verhoeven is a postdoctoral researcher at the research group Antwerp Media in Society Centre (AMSoC). Her expertise lies within journalism and diversity. She is currently working at Ghent University, where she researches the impact of AI on the journalistic profession, and journalistic deontology in European media councils. From October 2025, she will start her FWO-funded project entitled “Centering care in journalism.” Emma is editor at Tijdschrift voor Genderstudies and co-organizer of the LGBTQ+ Forum. She obtained her PhD in 2024 with a dissertation on LGBTI themes in Flemish news.
