Evemie Schutyser is a senior valorisation manager, responsible for the valorisation domain “Infectious Diseases and Environmental Health” within the Antwerp Valorisation & Development (AVD) business unit from the University of Antwerp. This means that she is facilitating and supporting the valorisation of research findings and expertise within this domain, with a focus on the set-up and support of strategic and innovative partnerships with external stakeholders (commercial, governmental and societal), support of innovation hubs (eg Vaccinopolis) and service platforms, and exploration of new ecosystems. Evemie is a Biological Engineer in Cell and Gene Biotechnology (KULeuven) who obtained her PhD in Medical Sciences at the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology at the Rega Institute at the KULeuven. After 4 years of post-doctoral research (including 2 years at the Department of Cancer Biology at the Vanderbilt University (Nashville,TN, USA)), Evemie started working in the biotech/pharma industry. She held various positions in the medical and “patient access and reimbursement” departments in 2 different companies, including 4 years as Medical Director for a Dutch affiliate. She covered several therapeutic domains (nephrology, cardiology, immunology, hemato-oncology, rare diseases) and supported the set-up and roll-out of clinical and health economic studies, the preparation of reimbursement files, the set up of advisory boards, patient support programs and medical emergency programs, the medical information provision and pharmacovigilance. After 16 years, she joined the University of Antwerp as senior valorisation manager in May 2024.
