Research interests
Maarten Weyn is an industrial engineer in electronics-ict and received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He is a full professor at the University of Antwerp, vice-dean research of the faculty of Applied Engineering and deputy chair of the Industrial Research Fund of the University of Antwerp.
He currently teaches the courses Mobile Communication, Telecommunications and the master courses Communication Systems and Internet of Things: Low Power Embedded Communication in the department Electronics-ICT. Maarten is a lecturer in the LoraWAN Academy on the topic of localization and a lecturer in some courses on Coursera on Embedded IoT systems.
His research in the imec-IDlab research group focuses on ultra-low power sensor communication and embedded systems, sub 1-Ghz communication, sensor processing and localization.
He is co-founder of the spin-offs Aloxy, CrowdScan, IoSa and AtSharp, involved in the creation of the spin-offs 1OK and Viloc and actively collaborated as a creator in the Canvas program Team Scheire.
