I conducted my PhD research on patients with a frozen shoulder. Within this study I investigated the difference in muscle strength, scapular kinematics, proprioception, autonomic symptoms, measurements aimed at (central) pain processing (allodynia, hyperalgesia, temporal summation and conditioned pain modulation), psychological factors and blood glucose. I also investigated the progression of these factors over time and which factors are predictive of disability and quality of life 9 months after the baseline measurement. I also examined the value of a specific test in patients with a frozen shoulder. My follow-up research focuses on prognostic factors and prediction models in general, but in particular in patients with shoulder complaints. Furthermore, my research mainly focuses on underlying mechanisms such as inflammatory, metabolic and autonomic factors, somatosensory changes and psychological/psychosocial factors in patients with shoulder complaints.
