Regulatory management oversight body
Peter Van Humbeeck was one of the driving forces and ‘spiritual fathers’ of the Flemish regulatory policy that was put in place from 2002 onwards, first as a result of the publication of a series of reports, recommendations and articles and the organization of a conferences and discussions (1999-2003), later as a result of a temporarily secondment to the newly established Regulatory Management Unit (oversight body) in the services of the Flemish Prime Minister (2003-2004). In the Unit (today 'Dienst Wetsmatiging'), he was responsible for setting up the regulatory management system in Flanders. He introduced i.a. the principles of better regulation in Flanders and installed the RIA and administrative simplification policies. He also initiated the Better Regulation Review of Belgium in 2004 (Federal government, Flemish and Walloon Region).
