Step 1: Contact the faculty/department where you want to do a traineeship

You are responsible for finding your own traineeship position and making the necessary arrangements with the training supervisor at the University of Antwerp.

Please submit a short plan for your traineeship, and send this to the international coordinator so they can help you find a training supervisor.

Note: besides the faculties listed below, you can apply for a traineeship throughout the entire year. There are no nomination and application deadlines. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

Attention: Some faculties have other conditions to apply

  • Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences:
check out this page for information about applying for a clinical traineeship.
  • Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences:
in case of practical training, you need to be nominated and apply before the same deadlines as for the study exchange. If you apply at a later stage, positions might have been filled. In case of an Erasmus internship, a place in the lab can never be guaranteed (also when there is an institutional agreement, under Erasmus Study). Places in a lab depend on availability of space and a promotor who has to be willing to host the student. Your home institution is free to contact a lab and promotor OR may contact nele.devloo@uantwerpen.be, administration officer for internationalisation at the Faculty.
  • Faculty of Applied Engineering:
students must have a fully signed Training Agreement at least two months before the start of their exchange period. No applications will be processed during the months of July and August.
  • Faculty of Science (Bio-engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Environmental Sciences):
students must have a fully signed Training Agreement at least two months before the start of their exchange period. No applications will be processed during the months of July and August.

Step 2: Complete your application

Follow these steps to complete your application:

  1. Receive a link for Mobility Online

Once you have made the necessary arrangements with your training supervisor, the International Relations Office will send you a link to commence the online application process through Mobility Online.

  2. Complete your application details

Double-check that your application details and personal data in Mobility Online are correct, as this is crucial for your registration at our university (place of birth, complete and official first name and surname, do not only use capital letters, etc). Check out our webinar on using Mobility Online.

  3. Gather and submit your documents

Make sure you have all necessary documents to apply for a traineeship.
Once you have collected all the documents, you should upload them to your Mobility Online account. Please do this well before the start of your traineeship.

  4. The evaluation of your application.

We'll review all applications for completeness. If anything's missing or incorrect, we'll email you. If your application passes this check, your faculty will review it to ensure you meet all academic requirements.
We will finalize this process as soon as possible and inform you of your acceptance.
