Legal clinics with Loyens & Loeff
On May 13th a legal clinic session of the Module Commercial Transactions and Disputes took place in the Brussels office of Loyens & Loeff. During the session, students received feedback on their legal clinic assignment from Dr Dilyara Nigmatullina and lawyer Jens de Winne. This case involved a Belgian company investing in real estate in the US through several LLCs set up with the assistance of a US tax attorney who appeared to be a fraudster. The students were asked to identify all possible civil claims the Belgian company could make against the LLCs as well as the tax attorney respectively the LLCs and whether such claims could be brought before the Belgian courts.
