In February 2025, we welcomed 15 students from all over the world to our winter school ‘European Solidarity in the Making’ during which they explored what European solidarity stands for in the global context of international migration.

Reactions from 2025 participants

The Winter School on European solidarity in the making was an excellent programme for researchers andpractitioners interested in migration, but also migration policies, social policies of the EU and the EU as ansupranational organization. The content of the course was wide-reaching and interesting, the lectures andworkshops were highly engaging. The programme was very intensive, but enjoyable.

The winter school named “European solidarity in the making” was a very stimulating and instructive experience to me. Not only from an academic point of view, but also from an informal and personal perspective. Simply reflecting on the students’ diverse backgrounds and the influence this had on their approach to the topic was extremely interesting. In my opinion, the service-learning activities were the best part of the program—we actually got to experience what we were discussing.
