Critical Approaches to Global Food Law and Policy | Winter School | Antwerp Winter University

Module 1 in Antwerp: 2 - 6 February 2026 Module 2 in Rome: 1 week in June/July 2026 (exact dates tba in January)

We're happy to organise the 2nd edition of the winter school on 'Critical Approaches to Global Food Law and Policy'

For many, food seems to be a daily routine. However, food equals also insecurity, health problems, climate change, poor working conditions and multiple interconnected challenges that define the future of people and the planet.

Learn from academics and practitioners about the key legal and policy aspects defining how food production, circulation and consumption are organised and governed in today’s globalised world. Develop a holistic perspective, and deepen your knowledge about food law, policy and their links with sustainability, human rights and people’s agency.

With one academic week in Antwerp (2 - 6 February 2026) and one practitioners-based week in Rome (1 week in June/July 2026, exact dates to be announced in January), the course provides theoretical fundamentals and an exceptional hands-on exploration of global food law, policy and governance, with visits and interactions with representatives of the Rome Based Agencies, international NGOs, the European Union, etc.
