Passport and visa information

Please verify with your local embassy or consulate whether you need a visa and/or international passport to travel to Spain. Ensure you check the specific visa requirements for your country. If an invitation letter is needed for your visa application, you can request it during the application process.   

Insurance

All accepted participants are insured for third party liability and accidents during summer or winter school activities. Additional insurances (e.g. health and travel), as well as travel costs are the participant’s own responsibility.

How to reach Almeria, Spain

  • By Air: Almeria is connected by air mainly to Spanish cities. For international travellers, the preferred option is to take a direct flight to Malaga airport. There is one bus per day connecting Malaga airport to Almeria leaving at 14:30. Additionally, several buses connect Malaga to Almeria every day. They leave from Malaga bus station located at Paseo de los Tilos, s/n, 29006 Málaga. The journey takes approximatively 3 hours.
    The “A” Express bus takes you from Malaga Airport to Malaga City. The bus runs between 7AM and midnight. There are buses approximately every 25-45 minutes, depending on the time of day.

  • By Rail: Several trains departs every day from Granada. The journey takes around 3 hours. Travelling from other major cities such as Sevilla, Malaga, or Cordoba will require you to change trains in Granada. 
    From Madrid there is no direct train. You will first need to take the train to Granada and then change to take a train to Almeria. The journey takes approximatively 6 and a half hours. 

  • By Bus: Direct buses leave everyday from Granada. The journey takes around 2 hours. Few buses directly connect Almeria to other cities such as Sevilla or Malaga. A direct bus connects Madrid and Almeria. The journey takes around 6 and a half hours.
