Through the online application form, the following information is requested:
- The full name of the conference, project, event or partnership.
- The name of the contact person.
- A clear and logical site structure. Take a look at some examples.
- A striking photo or illustration (no logo or text in the image!) for the header. This landscape image in jpeg has at least a resolution of 4000 X 2000 px. If you don't have an image available, you can consult our image database and download photos (cleared copyright) - do not forget to register at the top right.
- The name of the person in charge of updating the website. Subsites should be managed by a web content manager in your faculty or research unit who knows how the content management system works and is familiar with the web editing guidelines.
- If necessary, a shortened URL can also be created, eg www.uantwerpen.be/kinderuniversiteit.
- Content managers only receive full writing permissions for a website if they submitted the web form: apply for editing rights.
- A maximum of two content managers can be appointed per subsite.
What do we do for you :
- The web editing office builds the website based on your input and publishes the new website online. As an editor, you can add content and keep updating the site.
- If a separate domain name is available, we will ensure that this domain name points to your website.
Timing
Creating a website is done by the web editing team within five working days, but after that, editors need time to put all content online.
After publication
- The work does not stop when the website is online. The site will need to be updated continuously. After the conference, project or event, has ended, the content of the website will have to be adapted: registration forms and practical information need to be taken offline, while photos of the event and/or presentations, reports, etc. will need to be uploaded.
- If you stop updating a website, the content will become outdated and no longer relevant to our website visitors. Moreover, maintaining a website as an archive requires ongoing costs and efforts for hosting, backups, security and maintenance.
- Instead of maintaining a website as an archive (which is certainly not a best practice), it is recommended to export important content or possibly keep content or screenshots external to the site. A website that is not maintained will sink in Google rankings anyway. At the next stage and after any content has been exported, the conference website - which by definition should be temporary - can be removed from the UAntwerp website directory.
