Overview
European insurance supervision has undergone significant legislative changes during the last few years. Both prudential and conduct of business supervision have been – and will be – redesigned by Solvency II on the one hand, and the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) on the other hand. According to the European Commission’s recent proposal, the IDD should be applicable by October 2018.
This conference wishes to provide an in-depth evaluation of Solvency II and IDD. In the framework thereof it will be elaborated whether it is desirable that insurance supervision will continue to be inspired by concepts and ideas of banking supervision.
Representatives from different perspectives are invited to share their experiences. Not only the policymaking and supervisory level, but also the insurance industry itself and its consumers are consulted. Both European and national experts will participate.
