Target group and objectives:
PhD students who give presentations in English. The course teaches participants to give more effective and more professional presentations, improving confidence through practice.
Content:
The course improves the effectiveness and clarity of the participants' English presentations by practising
- style: clear and to the point language use
- structure: logical and easy-to-follow presentation of information, use of linking words and phrases
- pronunciation: speaking clear and understandable English
- phrases: focus on typical presentation phrases
- interaction with the audience: giving clear and concise answers
- visual aids: tips and tricks related to the use and presentation of visual aids
Method:
Besides practising the relevant techniques, phrases and language individually, in pairs and in groups, participants will learn by means of simulations and short oral presentations. Individual feedback and error analyses allow participants to focus on their particular problems.
Materials:
The coursebook was developed by Linguapolis using our experience with similar courses, error analyses of student research papers and course feedback by students who followed the course in the past. As a result, the course meets the needs of the target group perfectly.
