FaceReader
FaceReader is a software package that analyses facial expressions. FaceReader recognises the six basic emotions (happiness, sadness, surprise, fear, disgust and neutral), but may also be programmed to measure different action units in the face, allowing to measure more emotions than the pre-programmed six. The measurement process is not intrusive: by filming the participant’s face (frontal), the program registers and analyses the participant’s facial movements in real-time. FaceReader can be used in a laboratory setting, but may also be implemented in an online questionnaire (e.g. questionnaires featuring movies or images evoking emotional reactions).
