About the lecture

In this lecture on children’s literature without borders, Sara Pankenier Weld will consider how children’s literature research benefits from challenging boundaries. She will introduce a variety of examples from the study of children’s literature across time periods, regions, and audience categorizations to argue that the children’s literature research benefits from conscious efforts to resist the borders and boundaries that divide us, whether in time, space, language, or age.

About the speaker

Sara Pankenier Weld is a Professor of Slavic and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who researches children’s literature and childhood across national and interdisciplinary boundaries, particularly in Slavic, Scandinavian, and North American contexts.
