Preparation of mortar
Each batch for three test specimens shall consist of:
- Three parts of CEN Standard sand (1.350 ± 5) g
- One part of cement (450 ± 2) g
- One half part of water (225 ± 1) g
Preparation of test specimens
- The test specimens shall be 40 mm x 40 mm x 160 mm prisms
- Mould the specimens immediately after the preparation of the mortar
- Compact the mortar in layers using the jolting apparaturs
- Wipe off the mortar left on the perimeter of the mould
- Label the moulds for identification purposes
Conditioning of test specimens
- Handling and storage before demoulding
- Demoulding of specimens
- Curing of specimens in water
- Age of specimens for strength tests
