General information
A gyratory compactor is used to produce a compacted bituminous specimen in a cylindrical mould. Therefore it uses a combination of a constant vertical load on the bituminous mixture while simultaneous performing a shearing action on the mould around its inclined axis. During the compaction the gyratory can determine different compaction parameters such as void content and shear stress, witch are shown in the associated software.
By using different moulds one can make cylindrical specimens of 100mm as well as 150mm, which can be used for further testing.
