Both in Flanders and abroad, the importance of art and culture at the local level is increasingly recognized. We can speak of a “cultural devolution” with the transfer of responsibilities for culture to the local level. This evolution raises questions about what we can expect from the local policy level on culture today. Moreover, we can ask what does the local ecosystem mean today?
At the Fund for Cultural Management, we intend to develop a publication that builds upon the crucial discussions and insights addressing this multifaceted topic. This publication aims to provide an exploration on what exactly the role and power of arts and culture is in the local ecosystem.
Simultaneously, the publication seeks to address a wide range of topics related to culture in the local context. We encourage submissions that offer interdisciplinary perspectives and propose insights into the complexities of how art and culture relate to other societal domains such as economics, health and well-being, social cohesion, environment, and technology. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process to ensure the publication's academic quality. Full articles should be between 4000 and 6000 words (references included) and deadline of submission will be December 23rd of 2024.
