CALL FOR PAPERS -- Finance & History Workshop on Tuesday November 5, 2024

November 5, 1824 marks an important day in the history of the Brussels Stock Exchange (BSE), nowadays known as Euronext Brussels. On that day, the first stock was listed on the BSE. Since then, more than 1,000 companies listed their shares on the BSE. In the period before World War I, the BSE was one of the largest stock exchanges in the world. As such, the BSE has been an important catalyzer to fund industrial growth throughout the 19th and 20th century.

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of stock listings on the Brussels Stock Exchange, Ghent University, the University of Antwerp and Euronext Brussels will organize a Finance & History Workshop on Tuesday November 5, 2024. The workshop will take place at Euronext Brussels – Markiesstraat 1, 1000 Brussels.

We welcome full paper submissions until June 30, 2024. Papers can be submitted via e-mail to 200yearsbse@gmail.com. Please also include the contact information (name, affiliation and e-mail address) for all authors of the paper.

Submissions will be carefully examined by a scientific committee. A notice of acceptance for presentation will be sent at the latest by July 15, 2024.
